Tigers pound Joplin 11-3

The Ozark High School Tigers pounded out 14 hits, earning an 11-3 victory at Joplin on Monday, April 21, in a non-conference meeting between rival league leaders.

Ozark improved to 13-5 overall and will take a 6-0 Central Ozark Conference record into a league game Tuesday, April 22, at home against Bolivar. Joplin is 3-0 in the Ozark Conference and now 7-10 overall.

Corey Wiley blasted a 3-run homer and drove in 4 runs in the game to lead the winning attack.

Ozark jumped on top 5-0 in the first inning, batting around and smacking three extra base hits. Brett Neill, Derek Harwell and Ryne Armstrong all doubled in that big first inning.

Ryne Armstrong was the winning pitcher for Ozark, improving to 3-1 on the season. He worked 5 innings, allowing 2 runs, 6 hits, and walking 2 while striking out 4. Corey Wiley and Ethan Mather each worked an inning in relief.

Shayne Hoke his a home run for Joplin.

Corey Wiley blasted a 3-run homer in the third to put Ozark on top 8-1.

Ryne Armstrong, Levi Presley and Matt Jordan each finished with 2 hits for the Tigers.

Dane Kolkmeyer had 2 hits for Joplin.

After hosting Bolivar on Tuesday, the Tigers could wrap up a league title with a win at Rogersville on Thursday.
