The Ozark High School Tigers opened the Central Ozark Conference portion of the 2008 baseball season with a 9-0 victory over Buffalo on Wednesday, April 2.

The game, originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 1, was moved from Buffalo to Tigers Field because of the tornado which ripped through Buffalo on March 31.

Ozark improved to 3-3 on the season, and will play host to Republic on Thursday, April 3.

Senior right hander Matt Jordan was the winning pitcher, working 6 shut out innings with 8 strike outs, allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk.

Corey Wiley worked the final inning on the mound for Ozark, with a strike out, allowing 1 hit.

Ozark scored in the top of the first (the Tigers were visitors on the scoreboard because the game was originally scheduled to take place at Buffalo) when lead off hitter Brett Neill singled, stole second and scored on an RBI double off the bat of Levi Presley.

The Tigers threatened in the second against Buffalo starter Kyle Pinkley when Corey Wiley singled, Ryne Armstrong was hit by a pitch and Justin Johnson singled after 2 were out. But Pinkley escaped the jam with an inning ending strike out.

In the third, Ethan Mather reached on a shot down the third base line and scored on an RBI double by Jon Neill.

In the Ozark fifth, Levi Presley led off with a double and scored on an RBI double by Ethan Mather.

The Tigers scored 4 times in the sixth. Justin Johnson opened the rally with a single and stole second, moving to third on a single by Brett Neill. Brett Neill stole second before Levi Presley blasted a sacrifice fly for an RBI. Derek Harwell delivered a 2-out RBI single. Ethan Mather came through with his second RBI double of the contest, then Jon Neill matched the feat with his second RBI double of the game.

Ozark added a pair of runs in the seventh. Ryne Armstrong started that rally with a double and scored on an RBI single by Justin Johnson. Justin Johnson stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch. Levi Presely then came through with his second scarifice fly for the final RBI.

Buffalo finished with four singles, by Adam Paul, Tyler Cobb, Kyle Pinkley and Corey Atteberry.
