Tigers late charge leads to 12-4 win over Republic
The Ozark High School Tigers improved to 2-0 in the Central Ozark Conference with a key win over visiting Republic on Friday.
Ozark, now 4-3 overall, scored in every inning except the fourth, and pushed 6 runs across in the fifth to break the game open, making a winner out of right hander Ethan Mather. Ryne Armstrong worked the final two innings on the mound for Ozark.
Brett Neill led the Ozark offense with a pair of doubles. Derek Harwell, Chris Loveday and Matt Jordan also had 2 hits each in the contest.
Levi Presley, Jon Neill, Justin Johnson and Ryne Armstrong each had one hit for Ozark in the contest.
Ozark scored a single run in each of the first 3 innings, and led 3-0 after 4 innings when Repubic tied the game with a 3-run fifth inning, spoiling Mather's shut out.
Ozark responded with 6 runs in the last of the fifth, and scored 3 in the last of the sixth to take a 12-3 advantage.
Ozark will be at Marshfield on Monday, April 7, at 4:30 p.m., and game which can be heard right here at 65721.info.
Ozark will then play host to Reeds Spring at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, in another COC contest.
Ozark will travel to Springfield on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for action in the annual Red & Blue Tournament.
