Ozark tops Olathe East

The Ozark Tigers defeated Olathe, Kansas, East High School 5-3 to complete play at Lawrence, Kansas, Free State High School's Baseball Festival on Saturday, April 19.

The Tigers improved to 12-5 on the season with the victory. Ozark will play at Joplin in another non-conference contest on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Jayden Swain earned the pitching win for Ozark, working five innings on the mound. Ryne Armstrong got a hold with an inning of shut out work, and Ethan Mather got the save by pitching a scoreless seventh.

Ozark jumped on top 2-0 in the second but Olathe took the lead with a 3-run fourth.

The Tigers tied the score with a run in the fifth and took the lead with a 2-run sixth.

John Neill led the Ozark offense with 3 hits in the game.

Levi Presley added a pair of hits.

Matt Jordan smacked a double for the winners.

Brett Neill, Derek Harwell and Chris Loveday each had a single for the Tigers.

The trio of Ozark pitchers scattered just 6 hits in the game, and the Tigers defense played errorless baseball.
