Shawnee Mission South rallies to beat Ozark (Rebroadcast Available)

Shawnee Mission South scored a run in the seventh to earn extra innings, and 3 more in the eighth to defeat Ozark 7-4 in non-conference baseball action at Lawrence, Kansas, Free State High School on Friday, April 18.
Mike Levine drove in 4 runs in the game for the Raiders, including 3 in the final 2 Shawnee Mission at bats.
Ozark falls to 11-5 for the season.
The Tigers jumped on top 4-0 in the second inning when John Neill walked, courtesy runner Tom Wagaman stole second and Ethan Mather belted an RBI double. Chris Loveday walked and Ryne Armstrong drilled a 2-run double to the opposite field. Corey Wiley walked, and with one out, Brett Neill walked to load the bases. Levi Presley followed with an RBI single, giving the Tigers a 4-0 lead.
But Ozark left the bases loaded when starter Tim Bury struck out consecutive batters.
The Raiders broke through against Ozark starter Drew Crain with a pair of runs in the third. Alex Funkhouser doubled and Chris Arcilla singled to start the inning. Funkhouser scored on a ground out by Dustin King. Then with 2 outs, Mike Levine drove in a run with a single.
Although Ozark would not score again, the Tigers left runners on base in 6 of 8 offensive innings.
The Raider scored a run in the fifth when Dominic Fazio delivered a 2-out single which drove in Mike Levine.
In the seventh, Mike Levine tripled to drive in the tying run, but Crain worked out of the inning by getting a pair of ground outs.
The Tigers got a lead off walk from Derek Harwell to start the last of the seventh, and Ethan Mather singled to put the potential winning run in scoring position. But winning pitcher Richard Mais got out of the jam.
In the eighth, Chris Arcilla walked with one out and Dustin King doubled. Seth Wheeler was intentionally walked, and Mike Levine delivered a 2-run single for the game winner.
Brett Neill had 2 hits and walked for Ozark. Levi Presley finished with an RBI single. Derek Harwell singled and walked. John Neill walked. Ethan Mather had an RBI double, scored, was hit by a pitch and singled. Chris Loveday walked twice and scored. Ryne Armstrong hit a 2-run double and scored. Corey Wiley singled and walked, and was tagged with the pitching loss after working one inning. Drew Crain worked 6 innings (the first through fifth and seventh), striking out 2. Derek Harwell pitched a scoreless sixth. Matt Jordan singled and sacrificed.
Alex Funkhouser had a pair of doubles for the Raiders.
Ozark will be back in action Saturday, April 19, at 9 a.m. against Olathe (Kansas) East, weather permitting.
